KEY FEATURES

What sets Psysonic apart

To our knowledge, no comparable self-hosted desktop client ships these.

🪐 Orbit — Shared Listening

Listen together, in sync, over your own server. Start a session, invite people with a link, and everyone hears the same thing at the same time — host-controlled playback, a shared queue and guest song suggestions. Orbit rides entirely on your own Navidrome: no external relay, no third-party service, no extra accounts.

⚡ Local Library — Instant, and Almost Offline

A local index of your whole collection keeps the app fast no matter what your connection does. Because Psysonic already knows your tracks, browsing, searching and starting playback are instant — even a 500 MB FLAC starts the moment you hit play. On a slow or flaky link it stays responsive and behaves almost like an offline player. It's also the foundation the rest of Psysonic is built on.

🧠 On-Device Audio Analysis

One of the most powerful things Psysonic does — entirely on your machine. It analyzes your tracks locally (loudness, waveform and tempo), with no cloud service and no required server-side plugin. That analysis powers content-aware AutoDJ transitions, LUFS-based loudness normalization and playback-speed control. Because it runs locally, it works the same whether you're fully online or barely connected.

🎧 AutoDJ — Content-Aware Crossfade

A DJ that listens to the music, not a stopwatch. AutoDJ uses Psysonic's own audio analysis to trim the silence at the edges of a track and blend out of the actual music, for transitions that sound deliberate instead of mechanical. A standalone playback mode with smooth skip/interrupt handling and a configurable overlap.

🔗 Navidrome-Native, Deeply

Not a generic Subsonic client wearing a Navidrome hat. Psysonic binds Navidrome's native capabilities directly: server-side smart-playlist create/edit, playback reporting and OpenSubsonic capability probing. Most clients stay Subsonic-generic; Psysonic goes deeper.

🎨 Community Theme Store

A real marketplace for themes — installable and schedulable. Browse community themes, install them in-app, and let the Theme Scheduler switch looks automatically between day and night (clock-based or following your system's light/dark mode).

Built to be trusted

We take an enterprise-grade approach to development — continuously improving our automated testing and maintaining strict contracts between the backend and the frontend. Releases are cut from green CI, not vibes.

USABILITY PHILOSOPHY

Powerful, but approachable

Psysonic is built for people who care about their own music libraries. Some of them are self-hosting experts. Some are not. The app should stay powerful without becoming hostile, and approachable without becoming shallow.

Clear first steps

Downloads, setup paths and important actions should be easy to find before the technical details appear.

Depth without gatekeeping

GitHub, AUR, Nix and Cachix stay available for advanced users, but they are explained in plain language.

Predictable by default

The interface should use readable text, visible focus states, clear errors and navigation that does not require a manual.

Navidrome focus.
Psysonic is built primarily for Navidrome. Other Subsonic-compatible servers may work, but some features can be limited because Psysonic also uses Navidrome-specific APIs.
Orbit Logo

Listen together on your own server

Orbit turns Psysonic into a shared listening room. One person hosts the music, friends join through an invite link, and everyone stays in sync while guests suggest tracks for the queue.

Host-led sessions

The host starts an Orbit session, shares a link and keeps control over playback, queue approvals and session settings.

Guest suggestions

Guests can add songs from albums, playlists, search results or favorites. Suggestions can wait for approval or be accepted automatically.

No extra platform

Orbit uses your existing Navidrome server and regular playlists as transport. No extra account, relay or hosted sync service is required.

Everyone needs access to the same Navidrome server and their own Navidrome user. For friends outside your network, the server must be reachable publicly.
